Maintenance strategy for activated carbon acid washing equipment to extend its service life

In order to maintain and extend the service life of activated carbon pickling equipment, the following maintenance strategies can be adopted:


Daily inspection:

Appearance inspection: Regularly inspect the appearance of the equipment for damage, breakage, or air leakage to ensure the integrity of the equipment structure.

Operation status: Observe whether the equipment is running smoothly and whether there are any abnormal noises or vibrations.


Regular cleaning:

Surface cleaning: Dip a soft cloth in a small amount of neutral detergent solution and gently wipe the surface of the equipment, avoiding the use of brushes or hard objects to prevent scratches. Be careful not to let the aqueous solution seep into the interior of the equipment.


Internal cleaning: Regularly (such as quarterly or semi annual) turn on the equipment and use a soft brush and vacuum cleaner to remove dust and debris inside the equipment, especially in the area near the activated carbon adsorption layer. During the cleaning process, be careful not to damage the internal components of the equipment.



Activated carbon replacement:

The core component of activated carbon adsorption equipment is activated carbon. After a period of use, its adsorption capacity will gradually decrease, so it needs to be replaced regularly. Generally speaking, the replacement cycle of activated carbon is 3-12 months, depending on the usage environment and frequency.


When replacing activated carbon, the first step is to turn off the power of the adsorption box, open the box door, remove the old activated carbon, and load the new activated carbon into the box. During the replacement process, it is important to ensure that the old activated carbon has completely expired, otherwise it will affect the effectiveness of the new activated carbon.


Maintenance operation process:

Preparation work: Shutdown and ventilate to ensure that there is no gas residue in the pipeline, and carry out ventilation treatment to reduce the concentration of harmful gases inside the equipment. Wear protective clothing, masks, and gloves during the replacement process to avoid contact with harmful substances.


Cleaning of old activated carbon: Empty all the old activated carbon inside the equipment to avoid mixing old and new activated carbon and affecting the adsorption effect. Thoroughly clean the interior of the equipment, especially the dusty areas on the walls and bottom of the adsorption tower.


Filling of new activated carbon: Fill the new activated carbon evenly layer by layer according to the equipment design requirements, ensuring that the filling is dense but not compacted, so as not to affect the airflow permeability. Check whether the model and specifications of activated carbon meet the design parameters to avoid a decrease in adsorption efficiency due to material mismatch.


Through the above maintenance measures, it can be ensured that the activated carbon pickling equipment remains efficient and stable during long-term operation, extending its service life.
